Hog's Tooth: Set Dresser/Art Department

These are pictures from an 8 day short film I got a chance to work on called "Hog's Tooth"

The story was about these soldiers in the Iraq war in 2003

We spent the first half of the shoot at this ranch called Blue Cloud. The owner had this huge ranch and basically built a dilapidated Middle Eastern town on it. A lot of people use this place for filming, in fact Iron Man was shot here. Pretty cool!

I worked as "Set Dresser" on this shoot. This role is under the Production Designer in the Art Department. The Art Department is responsible for anything and everything on the screen that you see, besides the actors. The Art Department creates the world in which the actors reside.

We got to blow up a lot of stuff on this which was SO fun!

This is from on top of one of the buildings, I wish I could capture what this place was like to shoot at. It was really fun!

After wrapping at Blue Cloud we transformed an empty sound stage (basically empty warehouse) into three Iraqi roomsThe first was an Iraqi government official's office. This was were the snipers hid out for a while.
In these pictures is Mary our Props Master. She is a wonderfully unique woman that I am so lucky to have worked so closely with. She was in charge of handling all the guns, weapons and of course all other props.

This is the camera department getting set up for their shot.
I was just trying to give you a sense of what we did to build this room. All the windows, doors, carpets, furniture, all the painting of the walls. It was a lot of work but it looked stunning on camera - making it worth it!

This is the second completely separate room we built and furnished. This one is supposed to be an Iraqi Doctor's apartment.

Every little detail in these rooms we put there for a reason.

The third room we built was a hall. I didn't get any pictures of it for some reason. This was such a fun project to work on! I really really enjoyed working on the Art Department doing Set Dressing. I hope I get the opportunity to do it again soon.
